ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIPS
10_03.jpg

The NETLab, in collaboration with Dr. Sbarra's Laboratory of Social Connectedness and Health (LSCH), is recruiting Arizona residents between the ages of 18 and 55 who are involved in romantic relationships. This study involves an online interview and two in-person study visits with about one week between these visits. In between visits, participants must complete surveys and wear a recording device (scroll down for additional details about the devices). Each partner can earn up to $200 and a scan of their brain.

If you and your partner are interested, click the button below to take our screening survey! A member from our team will contact you once your form is completed.

The recording devices capture short sound bites of ambient sounds in your immediate environment (e.g. coughing, TV playing in the background, etc). You will be asked to wear the devices during your waking, non-work hours between 7-10 days, depending on when you schedule your 2nd session.

The devices do not record continuously. They only record in 30-second intervals about five times an hour, or about 2.5 minutes an hour, and you won’t be able to tell when it is recording. Altogether, the device records only 5% of your waking, non-work hours, meaning that 95% of the time you’re wearing it, it is off and not recording at all.

The devices also have a privacy button you can press as many times as you want, and that button will stop the device recording for 10 minutes.

Lastly, you have complete control over what recordings you provide us. We will go over this in more depth in Session 2, but essentially, you can come back into the lab and listen and delete any recordings you do not want the research team to have.
